Matthew Lee Publishes New Article on Adolescent Substance Use

December 21, 2018

Matthew Lee has published a new article, “Transposing the Adverse Social Dynamics of Adolescent Substance Use Disorders Into More Effective Treatment and Clinician Resilience.” This paper synthesizes the insights of a group of senior scholars across disciplines, as well as emerging leaders among medical school students, regarding more effective responses to the opiate crisis and related social issues affecting the well-being of adolescents.

Taking a broad view of the origins of the crisis, including the decline of community and the lifelong burden of adverse childhood experiences, the paper offers a model of treatment that integrates the individual, the community, and the wider society.  This integration has the potential to improve adolescent flourishing while also enhancing clinician resilience.  Learn more about the article: https://doi.org/10.1080/07347324.2018.1559004
